How can I improve my leadership skills?

Effective leadership is a combination of cognition and practice. Toastmasters build leadership skills by organizing events, conducting meetings, and mobilizing others to participate, all with conceptual guidance from the leadership program manuals. Just as they learn to speak by speaking, they learn to lead by leading.
What tools are available?

Club members receive a variety of resources on speaking and leadership, including different program manuals and a monthly magazine, "The Toastmaster", that offers the latest insights on speaking and leadership techniques. However the most effective parts of Toastmasters are the weekly meetings and supportive network among the members.
Who have been Toastmasters?

There have been quite a few famous Toastmasters in history. Here is a sample list of well known individuals from the Toastmasters "hall of fame".
How is a club connected to Toastmasters International?

A Toastmasters Club is a "neighborhood chapter" of the international organization. Toastmasters International is headquartered in Mission Viejo, California, and its membership clubs operate in over 70 countries in the world. An individual club receives organizational support from a network structure consisting of Areas, Divisions, Districts and Regions. Plano West Toasters is a part of Area 63, Town-north Division in District 50; District 50 is a part of Region III that covers several states in the South-West US. All Toastmasters enjoy the privilege and camaraderie in this global network.
How much does it cost to join a club?

Membership dues are typically 6-8 dollars a month, partly decided by each club. Members at Plano West Toasters pay $48 for each six months period. New members also pay a one-time processing fee of $20 which covers a "New member kit" from Toastmasters International. The organization itself is volunteer based and nobody profits from the membership dues.

Successful clubs are held together by members who keep the set of Toastmasters Promise. If you are over the age of 18 and can keep these promise, please contact a club officer to join our club!
